What is your reason for preparation ?

 Lot of times I ask students why they want to go into IIT and some of the reasons which I get is what I consider as Silly. Most of the times 99% of students say “ I want to get into IIT to get IIT Tag and because of that Tag I will get a very high paying job ” .which I consider as one of the silliest reason for preparing for IIT. What is the benefit of that tag if you can’t justify it in your work. The reputation of IIT is not because of its IIT Tag, It is because of the extra ordinary amount of hard work which people did to make IIT as a respectable name and more precisely “the brand name for hardworking and smart people “ . There is no benefit of an IIT degree if you can’t deliver what it demands to be an IITian. Without hard work it’s Shit. An average individual work for 7 to 8 hours a day. An average student studies for maximum 3 to 4 hours a day (if you study less than this than you are below average) .  But in IIT on an average every student works/studies for 20 hours a day which is around 2.5 times than normal office working hours and 5 times more than average student studying hours.
Take some names which you admire .
•    Shahrukh khan is not an IITian .
•    Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is not an IITian.
•    Narendra Modi is not an IITian
•    Ambani’s are not IITian
•    Sachin is not an iitian
•    Out of all the richest people in the world + all the most respectable people in the world 99.99% of those were not IITians

It’s the dedication and the amount of hard work which counts.  You can't be any of the above person without doing hard work. Ranbeer kapoor will not be a successful actor if he is not hardworking.
So please change the mindset that you want to get into iit just because you want to get iit tag. You can be a very successful person without going into iit.  You don’t have to go into iit to get rich or becoming successful. So find a valid reason.
The preparation for IIT starts with getting a right Mindset. Most of you  who just started your preparation , first find the right motivation (reason). If your motivation is false and not on the right path than you will suffer throughout your preparation and you’ll never get into IIT. So  start with a valid reason.

For e.g. “ I want to get into IIT because I want to get a high paying job and IIT tag” is not a good/valid reason and infact its wrong.

“I want to get into iit because I want to excel in my field and I am preparing because of my thrust for knowledge and the great minds in IIT will help me develop me as an individual so that I can contribute for the nation “ may be a valid reason.

prepare for IIT because you want to get Knowledge and you want to contribute in the development of the nation. Most of the IITian drop high paying jobs because they want to work on the grass root level to contribute for the society.
Don’t prepare for Money reasons as this motivation easily fade away when you start earning even a small amount of money or basic salary. Ask your self if some company will give you a package of rs. 20 or 30 lacs at this moment . than will you stop preparing for your dream ?. If yes than think again.

Right motivation to achieve hard goals is important and critical in your success.
